ATBU, an abbreviation for Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. The university is not widely known in the southern, Eastern and Western part of Nigeria as it is well known and respected above other universities in the North. The University is open to everyone from any part of the world giving all an equal opportunity to study but you must be willing to bear it pattern of discipline. What then is so special about the institution that makes it so ranked that many would love to study there?

Here are some facts about the prestigious institution.

1. First you should know that the university is named after the first Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

2. It is located in Bauchi, Bauchi State.

3. It is a premier federal university of technology.

4. It is a university particularly committed to academic freedom, tolerance, probity, equal opportunity and respect for cultural diversity. This you must know. 

5. The university is known for its discipline and leadership among students, lectures, and other staff of the institution. 

6. The common language "slang" among its students is "Kana Ruwa"  and now "Kana Bitumen" meaning "You Are Finished" which usually comes up when you didn't prepare well for exams or when you failed a prerequisite course. Guess this is hard. 

7. Student in the sometimes read while walking on the road either to lectures, test or examination hall.

8 Attendance is of more value than test regardless of its reward. Always attend classes especially fixed classes. 

9. Exam malpractice in the institution is not taken lightly. "KANA BITUMEN" is for anyone caught regardless of background and status. You leave the school.
