"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
Note the phrase, "...only begotten son... " Was He the only begotten son of God as stated in the verse? Yes!!! He was the only one who enjoyed such a glorious relationship with the Father like Adam did before the fall. So what has Christ's death and resurrection brought to us? He came to restore that Father and Son relationship that was lost in the beginning. How? "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Romans 8:3
When God condemned Christ on the cross it was our self lives that He condemned there, Apostle Paul understood that when he confessed, " I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
It is no longer "I" but Christ, that nature to Sin was lost in Christ, what the law cannot do for him Christ did for him and obviously that is true for all mankind. His coming, death and resurrection was, "To redeem them that were under the law,( under the bondage of Sin) that we might receive the adoption of sons." Galatians 4:5
At calvary where Jesus Died |
Therefore we are no longer servants but Sons. So He died, so that God will have many Children.
"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."
Romans 8:29
Christ been the first born and them who believed becoming his brothers and sisters. At the point Christ ceased to be the only son of God rather the first born, because God has begotten us by Faith in Christ Jesus.
"And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Galatians 4:6-7
Like little babies learning to talk we mutter Papa... Papa... Because we are reparented, we are no longer orphans, our birth was regenerated, we have received the Spirit of adoption unto sonship, God is our Father, we are His sons and daughters, we are accepted, we are loved.
The Bible says, "...we are joint heirs with Christ... " Romans 8:17. Do you know what that means?
That what God will do for Jesus, He will do for us, We have equal privileges with Jesus Christ before the Father if we believe.
